So, we should have had full seatings of parliament huh?
I honestly don't know what politicians actually mean and what is pure smoke up everyone elses anus.
But, I called BS on Scheer and others way back when they were demanding parliament get back to full, regular seatings in the house in the midst of a pandemic while bitching and moaning every step of the way with attempts to move more online.
Now, two party leaders are COVID-19 positive and they're bitching that safety precautions aren't good enough and the online solutions aren't sufficient.
While I doubt things would be perfect now had things gone down the online path originally, it is impossible to deny that the very parties now complaining about the inadequacy of the online circumstances are the very same ones that threw every wrench possible into earlier plans to make it workable.
Furthermore, one of those a**hats is bitching about wait lines like there is much of anything the government can feasibly do about it. He sits around in full knowledge that if there is an election, by the time there is, if he wins the situation would have improved naturally. Right now, there is shortage of talent and supplies and legislation can do little to address that.
What would have addressed his and others needs for testing? Actually following the guidelines laid out by public health officials. Right now, Ottawa is one of the hot spots and cases are rising rapidly. So, it is effectively an expectation that there will be waits as compared to places with lower case loads and risk.
About the only thing within the governments "power" would be to try and put pressure on what SHOULD be an independent body. Health Canada should NOT be responding to pressure from politicians. And while I have no doubt O'Toole would throw the rule book out the window if he wins an election. I bet just as much that if he were in power now he would be doing the same damn thing as the current PM. Because these agencies weren't created to obey politicians.
They were created because there are experts in the community who know better than politicians.
I understand the frustration. Especially that the saliva tests haven't been approved. Including the one from the US produced "open source" by a University with what would suppose is sufficient backing research to support their claims as to its efficacy. But, again, I'm not a medical expert.
