The whole COVID-19 thing has impacted my learning a bit. A very little bit. But, it has impacted it nonetheless.
I was always working from home. So, I expected no impact.
But, what has changed is that my daughter and wife are home 100% of the time. This has changed their patterns in subtle ways. But, impactful ones nonetheless.
My daughter, now craving more attention than ever now that she cannot interact with her friends, teachers and classmates in the ways she is accustomed too, is seeking that elsewhere. And seeking it in greater quantities. She can't get the quality of interaction she wants. So she is back-filling with quantity. And she is young and needs that love and attention.
My wife is also used to having more time to herself. But, now she has none during the work day. These are all rather extreme changes. And it means that when I'm done work, I'm spending more time with one the other or both than usual.
These aren't complaints. Just observations. But, these observations lead me to go through a similar set of changes. I have less time. And I value it differently and more. Learning Japanese is important to me. And I haven't missed my flash cards once. But, my reading has fallen behind a lot. When I have time, and no one needs anything of me, I just want to relax.
So, the growth is slow right now. But, I am still growing my Japanese.
