Language Journal: February 23rd 2019

OK, so it seems like I'm not really cutting back on these journals. But, I'm also not cutting back on my studies so I'll call it a win. In fact, diving more into my studies just makes me want to write more. I just need to make sure that I don't fall back into a place where I feel like this is a diversion.

My flashcards are hovering around 90-95% accuracy, and that is with new words. Though, at this point, most of the new flashcards in my big deck collection are ones where I can either make a good guess as to the meaning or I already know the word from elsewhere. In both cases they kicked out in review times pretty far. If I can guess the word that generally means that the context and the components provide me enough information and even though that specific word is new, it isn't as likely to stump me as some word which contains hitherto unseen Kanji or reading.

Speaking of which, "小川" always throws me for a loop in the audio tracks or when I haven't seen it in a while. Just when you think you've seen all of the readings for 小 they go and throw a new one at you.

I'm also almost caught all the way up on my manga. Silver Spoon has half a volume left. Since it is the weekend, I won't be seeing any more until at least next week. And it looks like I might get some extra time to read tomorrow.

I also started watching some random anime on Crunchy Roll with the subtitles turned off. It is crazy how much I rely on those even when I think I'm not. And added a new YouTube channel to follow with some more Japanese dialog.

And that is a wrap. Maybe I should watch some YouTube or CR.
