Did James Comey admit to swinging the election?

NO.

I don't even know any more if people are just stupid or pure evil.

Let's start with the odd fact that the people leading the mob are those who benefited directly from the actions. This might sound amazing and altruistic... except, we can't actually accept that there is any moral ground upon which they are offended. They kept him employed for month after the fact which normally wouldn't happen and only started flinging mud at him when he started doing things they didn't like. Like telling the truth.

But, further to the point... at no point did he admit to swinging the election or attempting the swing the election.

In fact, he admitted to much the opposite.

Put between a rock and a hard place he acted in the way he expected to have the least amount of impact on the election.

The rock and the hard place being that the FBI was performing an investigation, but it hadn't yielded anything substantial. And, generally this would mean "keep your mouth shut". But, it had become known that the media may have been about to leak the investigation anyway. Which was likely to have the effect of making it seem like the FBI was covering something up to aid Clinton in the election.

So, the problem was, if they didn't make an announcement but the media leaked it, the FBI would likely appear to be hiding information to help Clinton. Which, since Comey was appointed by democrat could look fairly bad. On the other hand, if they announce the investigation despite not having substantial evidence, it would appear as though they were supporting Trump.

The FBI had to choose one or the other. Keep quiet and run the risk of the media making it look as though they were concealing information to aid Clinton, or come forward and seem to be helping Trump.

It is within this climate that Comey's "confession" takes place. He admits that he believed Clinton was going to win regardless. And then he admits that is was POSSIBLE that this biased him towards announcing the investigation.

So, if you're not a total moron... you understand that what he is saying is that he believed he was making the best of two bad decisions and that he furthermore believed that his announcement would NOT impact outcome of the election.

None of this amounts to an admission of either planning to, or succeeding in changing the outcome of the election.
