Is Global Warming Bad? YES!
I'll be the first to admit, I've had SIMILAR thoughts as this. But, they are just similar and not the same.
Global warming is bad. It is bad news for humans and many species on this planet. In fact, any drastic change in weather or temperature changes are. It doesn't really matter if they are caused by man or not. I want to be clear about this. Global temperatures will rise and fall on the Earth without our intervention. It has happened for time immemorial. And every time, shit loads of things died.
And while we may not be able to control all of these swings. We should DEFINITELY seek to avoid actively causing or encouraging such trends. Because, in my experience, the average human enjoys being not dead.
My "similar" thoughts were, humans beings MAYBE have the tools to adapt our environments to survive. That isn't really the same at all as "climate change may be good". But, I want to admit that it does do one thing similar. It potentially plays down the threat. And, what I said, while (arguably) true could be used to justify a statement like the one made in the linked article.
Human beings evolved in various climate zones and over more than one temperate phase of the Earth. We survived a mini ice age. But, humans only thrived as the climate warmed. This SEEMS to align itself with the article. But, it misses the point entirely. The Earth's temperature reached a point which allowed for fairly stable and predictable temperature cycles and weather and provided lands almost completely covered with vegetation and life. We EAT VEGETATION AND LIFE! And we NEED to if we hope to survive.
Global warming is making weather cycles less predictable, devouring landmasses as water rises and making more and more of the Earth uninhabitable, both for humans and the things we like to grow and kill.
Earth, in terms of temperature, is in a "goldilocks age". Everything is just right. Well, we're kind of bordering on the edges of that.
Do you want to push the limits and find out if we're really smart enough to survive in any meaningful numbers?
