Trump WILL kill or mangle your healthcare
I really don't get how people are so astronomically stupid. They seem to believe there is no correlation between different elements of a politicians platform.
A common theme is that people in rural areas (arguably those who won the election for Trump) and are also the most in need of Obamacare voted in droves for Trump because they didn't believe he would really do anything to their health care.
If Trump's other policies didn't leave him taken a huge chunk out of the national coffers and his own party didn't agree with that approach... you might have something. But, Trump ran as a Republican, and they are want to gut Obamacare. They also own both parts of the house. Even if Trump's platform could have afforded not to gut Obamacare, it probably would anyway.
The smoking gun however is his "simplified" tax brackets. For the average American it does almost nothing. But for the wealthy, it will make them richer. In fact, the incredibly wealthy stand to get MUCH richer.
This is the smoking gun for one very important reason. The rich and ultra-rich have something absurd like 90-99% of America's wealth (depending on your definition of rich lies). And, because they were taxed more heavily, they make up something like 99.9% of personal income tax revenue for the government. What happens when you lower taxes on those people? The national budget loses a FUCK TON of money.
I can really think of only 2 areas where the government spends a FUCK TON of money from where they might be able to try and recover that lost income. Health care and education.
If only his platform had clues as to where he might get that FUCK TON of money from. Oh wait... he did. Obamacare.
Please understand. When I say FUCK TON I mean double to (more likely) triple digit billions if not more. This is not a sum of money he can weasel out of other random places. This single tax change requires a scapegoat of immense proportions.
If you fall in that lot of rural people who voted Trump, YOU voted to lose your health care for sake of lining the pockets of millionaires and billionaires.
The ONLY way this might not happen is if Trump decides not to follow through with his tax reforms. But, let's face it, he is one of the top benefactors of those reforms and he not shied away from that. And, once again, neither have republicans.
Look. Even if you think Trump is a gullible fool who experienced politician's can manipulate so that he delivers something which looks like a normal presidency... both topics at play here are ones where Trump was largely aligned with the Republican party and they run the entire show right now, and like minded people are his advisers.
You might say "oh, hindsight is 20/20". But no. In this case foresight it pretty damn clear as well. Pretty much everyone knew the republicans would control the house. The only question was who would be president. And presidents appoint like minded people. Even good ones. So, you knew in advance, if Trump were elected he would have people who agree with him advising and republicans largely or totally in control of the house. As a result, you should have known that both the tax changes and the end of Obamacare would be in the pipeline.
