Windows 10 Weekly Reports for Parents

Not sure about this. Firstly, the article implies it is affecting multiple parents, but the article just references the one person who started ranting about it some time ago. What's interesting is that I really can't see any problems with it.

I'm not sure how many people have ever actually tried to setup their parent/child relationships with their Microsoft accounts... but it IS NOT a trivial process. I simply cannot see this ever being something you accidentally opted into. Sure, default settings may have changed over time. But this is not something that simply happens.

But, the next part is, why the hell wouldn't you want this? Firstly, you CAN turn it off. And the original author who is clearly a Luddite who somehow managed to setup a multiple MSA's with family relationships and all without knowing it, was also able to find his way back to the portal AND disable the weekly report!!!!

At the end of the day... I use a lot of tech and I almost never see any parental controls in most modern tech, and yet I see kids barely old enough to no longer be called toddlers owning cell phones and tablets. THAT is bad parenting. But it is also widespread enough now that OS providers have a responsibility to help protect their users. And as far as I can tell, Microsoft is the only company doing any really effort in this area. Apple and Google will help password protect your purchases so that you don't contest a boat load of charges. But beyond that, little is done.

If I were to blast Microsoft's parental controls it would be for the fact that they are so friggin' hard to setup. Maybe, if they got past that... then I would be concerned about features were on by default. But, since you need to jump through hoops just to get it working at all, you can at this point consider everything it does opt-in only.
