Solitaire-gate?
You can't make this stuff up! How is this actually something worth being upset about? Sure, it is a weird one. Spontaneously trying to monetize a game you gave away for free for years.
But it is a game. And, I don't imagine that it is (comparatively) all that popular of a game any more. So does this mean no more free Solitaire? NO! go do a search on Solitaire in the Windows Store. As of right now in the Canadian store I get 395 matches. All of the top ones shown appear to actually be Solitaire card games and they ARE ALL FREE.
Better! The top 4 that aren't the MS solitaire game pack also have NO IN GAME PURCHASES and I'm not seeing any ads either. So totally free.
So, lets face it, it isn't like you can't get Solitaire for free. In fact, you can get a whole boat load of Solitaire games for free.
Also, you CAN play the MS one for free as well. You just get random non-dismissible ads. Which, granted is quite annoying. So, don't play that version.
Now, if all they had done is taken the old version, thrown it into the Store and added some ads and charged for it... that might be a little more of a kick in the face. But that isn't the case either. This is actually new Store version of the game with multiple modes. Doesn't make it any less lame that they are charging for it. But at least it technically isn't the same game.
Not sure if these are real or not, but there are actually comments on the linked article which imply that people are going to avoid upgrading to Windows 10 because of Solitaire. I hope that is just jokes.
Internet, you're drunk. Go home.
