More MS Phone Predictions.

Because I can't rant enough on this topic to get myself to shut up, here are some more predictions.

Everyone is saying that Android is plan "B" for Windows Phone and has been for some time. I still think that is pure BS. The reality is that Microsoft really needs an entrant in the phone market to remain relevant. They don't need to be a huge player. But they need to be present.

If Microsoft goes out of their way to kill off Windows Phone (technically Windows 10 for Phones and Small Tablets), I don't think Android is plan "B". I think Android is perhaps plan "C". Plan B would likely by Windows 10. The x86 version. Full blown Windows 10 on everything. Atom processors are getting faster, and Intel has promised mobile SoC's for some time now.

Phones are also coming out with 2-4GB RAM and internal storage is getting close to the point where 32GB will be mainstream. Combine all of those things together and we end up in a place where Microsoft can still deliver phones despite completely killing off support for ARM. Let's face it, most OEMs will probably opt to put x86/64 based processors in all tablets and load up full Windows 10 any way.

If they then properly kill off that SKU they can further streamline costs. Create some phones which can dock to a keyboard, mouse and monitor and enable extra ports and storage and you have a phone that can truly double as productivity device. Build a laptop/tablet/convertible dock as well and you could have a single PC that serves in some capacity as any computing form factor and which could showcase the full spectrum of Continuum states.
