Windows 10 + Web Apps in Store = How the hell should I know

Not that anyone is asking me either. But this was an interesting point that deserved some thinking. Apparently Microsoft will be adding the ability for companies to "publish" their web apps to the Windows Store.

Up front this doesn't sound like much more than sandboxing a website. And that isn't all that bad of an idea. One of the pain areas for many on Windows Phone was bank apps. Many were late to the game if they showed. For me, this wasn't a big deal. I went from an old BB Curve to Windows Phone and as a result I've never had a bank app on my phones. But for many this seems like a big deal.

And, I guess it goes beyond that. Not only are they sandboxed, but they will also have some ability apparently to interact with some native OS features like notifications and cameras and the likes.

As others have pointed out, this won't kill the app gap. But it will help get certain types of apps such as the much pined for bank apps hopefully.

The biggest problem I see is the store itself. This also kind of opens up the floodgates for even more crap ware. I sure hope they have some idea in mind on how they will manage this.
