I don't work for Microsoft, but some times I'm so good with my predictions I think I ought to be.

Based on the rumours and official word from MS and a general understanding of the software development process I pegged the most likely timeline for new phone support to be at around a month or more out from the initial release. And while nothing firm has been released, today, 19 days from the last release Gabe Aul indicated on Twitter (paraphrasing) that they are more or less wrapping up the next build code wise.

The way it is worded, it sounds like all of the must haves are done, but that they want this build to offer a lot more and now it is more about getting some more nice to have features in. Guessing they probably have a goal date some time between end of this week and next with some time on the end for QA on devices.

I'm reading a lot into a single tweet, so I could still be wrong on several fronts. But, if I'm right, in 2-3 weeks we should see a new build which will be right in the middle of the 1-2 month range.

Could be a bit closer than that even.

Reasons for this are the nature of the comments and historical data. So far he hasn't dropped any clues with regards to a timeline. Not even a cryptic one as he had last time. The post explicitly states that they aren't code complete as he mentions that they are working on new features still. But, that he was willing to divulge progress at all is a good sign. Last time around he didn't drop any solid clues until less than 12 hours from launch, I would expect the same here and we haven't seen anything like this yet. The only thing that makes me think it could be sooner than 2 weeks away is the fact that he was willing to talk progress/state of the next build at all. We don't know what the missing features are or how many of them there are so of course so we can't even speculate on our timelines aside from the ability to take the tweet as a positive sign.
