Project Spartan thoughts...
It is premature to be judging this thing that I am currently composing this in. But, for those who haven't seen it in its current state, it might be insightful.
Biggest plus for me is something small. No more wasted title bar real-estate. When I first to Windows 10 I actually missed the Modern IE for this reason. My laptop is touch-first and kind of small. I think the chrome-less windows look much nicer. That being said... there is no full screen mode that does away with the task bar, even in mobile mode. I get that a lot of people are somehow incapable of accepting change, but I REALLY don't need this legacy task bar on the screen at all freakin' times. I know I'm the minority here, but I'm a little annoyed that there isn't even an option for this.
Performance, is a grab bag. Generally it is better than IE. But some times opening and closing tabs is SUPER slow, and sometimes non-responsive. This could be the fault of the page itself, but I can't fathom how the tab and the page are still so intertwined. If I open a new browser to a slow loading page the browser starts immediately and I just get a white page for a bit. That one isn't specific to this browser though. It scores respectably in browser speed tests as well.
Obviously this is early beta for Spartan and many features are missing. Not a biggie for me. But if you had wanted to get this OS to try out Spartan as your default browser, I'd recommend waiting another build or two. You'll probably find features you use regularly which simply aren't there yet.
