Doubters recant. Another fast ring build!
Well, I had wondered before about whether or not the near immediate release of build 10041 to the slow and the fact that build was almost 2 months from the prior build was a sign that there was really going to be no change or if that was merely coincidence and things really were going to ramp up.
It seems like we may have our answer.
Today, less than 2 weeks since 10041 hit the fast ring we have another build. Since it is little more than a week since the last build not much has changed... though a major new feature, Project Spartan, makes its debut.
Frankly, given the cadence of releases of versions for Phone, I am surprised at this move. I'm glad, don't get me wrong. Just seems out of place for MS to actually be firing off new builds so rapidly. In fact, if this keeps up, I may actually move back to the slow ring. These upgrades go through the full install process and are by no means quick. I was in the fast ring because I'm not afraid of botched builds or bugs and I wanted new builds faster than the slow ring. But if this new pace keeps up I'll be waiting for an OS to update every other week.
Congrats to Microsoft on making me actually consider going with the safe route :)
If they can keep this up... it may mark the beginning of people actually taking their recommendations on who should be in the fast/slow rings seriously. I mentioned before that there were a bunch of things that they could do to encourage people not to just arbitrarily subscribe to the faster feed. In hindsight, actually ramping up the speed might be sufficient. If there were something that got builds out daily... you can bet your butt most people would bail out of that ring for instance.
