Yay, I'm retro or something!
Got a kick out this article. It points to something I've said before. iOS and Android are "cool" or popular, or whatever you want to use to describe them. The reality of what that means is that the younger generation won't be caught dead with anything else. You see older music dominating Windows Phone and BlackBerry because they are devices more likely to be owned by people not obsessed with their image, which tends to be older individuals who generally have older tastes in music.
But, what makes the conclusion more interesting is that it is largely useless. Maroon 5 is considered "new" music, but "P!nk" is considered 10 year old music? Both have been around for ages, and both have released albums in last year or so. So what makes P!nk older than Maroon 5? In fact, every artist they point out as being old that I recognize has released albums recently, and many of the people considered new have been around as long as many of the so-called old artists.
That being said, anecdotally, I'd have to agree with the conclusions. But as a cranky old man, I feel it is more of a condemnation of iOS and Android.
