Phone-Laptop Hybrid possibility and shut-up about Android on Windows (Phone)!

Firstly, I wouldn't put it past OEM's to put out (another) Phone-Laptop hybrid. This happened before with Android, and it didn't catch on. I don't expect it to catch on now either. It is a great notion for low budget types in a niche corner of the market. But the problem is performance. I expect more performance from my laptop than I do my phone. Phone SoC's are strong enough contenders for a media consumption tablet, but then why not just buy a phablet?

A phone-laptop convertible doesn't make sense because to make it make sense the laptop portion would basically need to be... a laptop. And if it needs to beef up everything from CPU to GPU to RAM to disk space and battery, then why do I want to need to dock a phone into it?

That is ultimately the crux of these designs; either the phone isn't powerful enough to make a viable laptop for a broad enough market, or enough extra horsepower needs to be shoved into the laptop piece that the price sky-rockets and you might as well buy a phone and a laptop separately.

I'll admit, I'm a tad intrigued if the rumours are true though. Windows 10 makes a much better candidate than Android did. I just don't see it working out in the consumer market.

And the next rumour that keeps popping up is Android apps on Windows. STOP THE MADNESS! This WON'T happen. Or if it does it won't be what you want it to be.

The obvious start; no Google Play or Google Services. Google doesn't even let some AOSP projects use these pieces. There is no way in hell that they would make an exception for Windows especially given their mutual hostility of late.

The next problem is API compatibility. Running Android on Windows Phone or within a Windows Store wrapper means emulating Android. But you can only emulate the things the platform supports. Guess what? In many ways Windows Store apps (both phone and desktop) are MUCH more restricted than Android. So, not only would you need to either side-load or use a 3rd party app store, many apps won't work or won't work as expected.

Also, there isn't a chance in hell Microsoft is going to give Android apps broader system access than its own platform apps.

So please stop this non-sense!
