Cruel fates...

And, the very night I start working on a WP8 App... my brand new WP8 phone randomly dies.

I don't think I can attribute this to anything but sheer bad luck. I'm not seeing any reports of people having phone break down the way mine did; which is, completely at random. So I think it was just a bad unit. Literally, the phone was probably at around 85% charge sitting on my lap, was working at most 10-15 minutes earlier, I hit the power button to check the weather and nothing happens.

I've owned the phone less than a week. It hasn't been out of my sight. I haven't dropped it (not even a tiny drop). The phone has never even met condensation let alone water. I've seriously not only never seen this before, I've never even heard of something like this happening before. I've heard of cases where the battery ran out and then the phone never powered back on, but this one was almost completely charged.

I guess I can't complain. Better it happened now while the phone is still under the return policy than a couple months down the road when I might have ended up needing to send it to the manufacturer or worse, after the warranty ran up. Also, timing wasn't all that bad... Friday night so I can return it Saturday morning.

So far this hasn't deterred anything. I started on the app anyway. Just basic stuff tonight. Setup the projects on TFS service, created some basic backlog items and work items and made the model objects (which was less than 20 minutes work since round 1 is just going to be basic incarnate).

Just can't believe my luck on the phone. And, it means I wasted my unlock code. When I get a new phone I'll need to buy a new one all over. Maybe I'll get lucky and they'll sell me a Lumia 920 off contract. Not a big deal if I can't... Nokia does have better apps, but the truth is I'm unlikely to make much use of them. But if I can get one I will. My Lumia 800 is one sexy tank of a phone and while the build quality on the 8X isn't bad it still isn't as good. Also, I somehow always seem to be trying to take pictures in low light on my phones.
