Silverlight Web Pages
Well, after spending so much time trying to build complex applications, I went back to trying my hand at just a simple web page. It is stupidly easy now. I made a quick web site for Veronica's business with a Home, Contact, Hours of Operation and a page for her sample work in no time at all. Once I had everything in place I went back investigate some ways to increase the attractiveness of the whole thing. I replaced my original list that triggered images to appear in the Samples screen with a free download from Telerik that provides a view that looks like a book. It isn't 100% what I wanted, but it is a lot prettier than my first iteration. I really want the Telerik Coverflow control. I could easily build some custom content layouts for it that would look spectacular, but for the moment, that isn't what I have to work with.
I think the next thing I will do when I'm in a relaxing mood is to build something that will do exactly what I want. If I'm going to build my own, it probably won't be a Coverflow imitation though, I was thinking more along the lines of a combination List and Slideshow. Having a limited number of thumbnails displayed at the bottom that scrolls along with the user, then the entire collection in a list off to the side with the bulk of the center area containing the content. Then, selecting either a thumbnail or a list item will trigger a flashy transition of some sort from the current item to the new selection.
