Indecision...

Well, I'm still where I was before the weekend (was a great camping trip by the way). Over the weekend I had some time to think and talk about my project and one thing occurred to me which I wasn't thoroughly pleased with. I still have this dependency on Visual Studio more or less.

While the objective with the DevTracker project isn't as open source central as what I was going after with the RecipeTracker application, I have in the past and still am a fan of systems that everyone can plug into without a huge investment. I may be setting myself up for disappointment but I think I still want to invest a bit more time in trying to find a solution wherein I can easily develop, compile and deploy WPF applications in an open source or at least free-to-use environment. At the moment I have nothing to lose really, the 2 class libraries I have code in are both fairly generic DLL's which I believe would port into Mono with little or no difficulty.

Ultimately though, wherever I end up, this needs to be a WPF project. There are other options out there for visual design and some may match the needs of my application better, but at present I don't actually have my side business up and running and as with the RecipeTracker one of my objectives remains to improve my skill set with a knowledge of a framework that I will be using more and more in my day job.

So, back to the googling.

Alex.
