Mead and other stuff...

I like when I keep myself busy outside of work. Once I get in the mood to do things I usually find it hard to stop.  Typically results in my doing chores that I typically wouldn't do, or getting through projects I put off a while ago. That is one of the reason for the side projects and the blog. It keeps me doing something other than video games, TV and sleeping while at the same time having essentially a journal which says "Hey, you haven't done anything productive in X days. Get off your butt!" Also, it is keeping me accountable to myself, I write down what I plan to do, so I can catch myself cutting corners faster. I KNOW the right way to do these things, but if I don't write it down somewhere that I come back later and point it out, sometime I will just do it whatever way is easiest at the time.

Anyway, one of the other things I started around the same time I started the blog was a new batch of mead. Its been out in the garage for a weeks now, checked it out yesterday before work and it was looking like the initial fermentation is slowing down finally. Will be ready to rack soon. I'm not sure why I like making mead so much, making beer or wine is a shorter process and the wealth of kits makes it easier. Out of the 4 or 5 batches I've made, I think that there have so far been only 2 that ended up drinkable. The first one I made in university and one Veronica chose the ingredients for. And to be honest, it must have been fluke that the university one was good, when I went back to make mead for a second time and redid my research, it seemed that we did every thing in the book that they tell you not to. So, I'm tempted to another one similar to that one (ingredient-wise, not technique). So I'm putting it here so that hopefully I will keep to this plan.

Anyhow, back to the garage to check on the mead.

Alex.
